01 / The artist behind the art

A lifelong passion.
A new beginning.

“I’m Cheryl, and creativity has always been a part of who I am. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by the human form.

“I studied art at A-level, before life took me into a career in the corporate world. Through life drawing and photography, my love of art stayed with me.

“More recently, life gave me an unexpected reason to slow down. And somewhere in that stillness, I picked up my paintbrushes again.

“During chemotherapy, art became a way to keep going mentally and physically: a space to create, express myself and find strength. That pause gave me the opportunity to develop entire collections, exploring colour, form and expression.

“And that’s where Chezza Creates begins… Bold. Expressive. Full of colour. And above all, full of life.”

First Brushstrokes

Three faces. Three personalities. A new beginning.

A trio of bold, block-colour faces, born when life asked me to pause. Picking up a paintbrush became a way to nourish body, mind and soul. These strong faces reflect the strength I was discovering within myself.

The story behind the collection

“I never planned to become an artist. But life forced me to stop. I needed something for myself. So I picked up a paintbrush. No grand plan. Just a need to create. And slowly, something unexpected began to emerge. A strength I was discovering within myself. Three faces. Three personalities. A new beginning. What began as a way to heal became the beginning of my art.”

Colour in the stillness / Digital

Yellow Rainbow

Finding colour in the stillness. Strength in vulnerability. A rainbow where you least expect to find one.

Created in Procreate, these figures celebrate resilience, individuality, attitude and sass. The rainbow carries creativity and hope; the yellow surrounding it represents the treatment that shaped this chapter, and the energy, optimism and light that emerged.

The story behind the collection

“It began with a paintbrush. Then I found a rainbow. When life forced me to pause, I kept creating. From canvas to digital pen, I found colour in the stillness. The figures within these works represent the strength of the human form, its resilience, its individuality, its attitude and its ability to keep going.

“The pieces exude confidence, attitude and sass, a reminder that even through difficult times, something of us remains bold, expressive and entirely our own. The rainbow represents what I found within that period of my life: colour, creativity, hope and unexpected beauty, giving myself the freedom to start to create again, brush to canvas, digital pen to pad.

“The yellow represents the treatment surrounding that chapter. But it also became energy, optimism and light. Through everything, there was still so much of me. This is Yellow Rainbow.”

Life drawing has remained part of my creative life. The figure, its expression and its strength continue to connect my studies, paintings and digital work.
